Estimator – Roofing & Façades
Location: London / South East (Hybrid / Remote options available)
Salary: £45,000 – £70,000 per annum (DOE)
Employment Type: Permanent / Freelance / Full-time or Part‑time considered
Overview
A specialist building envelope contractor is looking to appoint an Estimator to strengthen its pre‑construction team. The company delivers complex roofing, cladding, and façade projects across London and the South East and has developed a strong reputation for technical quality, safety, and attention to detail. This is an opportunity for an experienced estimator with sector‑specific knowledge to take ownership of the tendering process and play a key role in securing future work.
The Role
Working closely with senior management and the delivery team, you’ll lead tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and handover. You’ll prepare accurate cost plans, liaise with supply‑chain partners, and ensure each bid is compliant, competitive, and technically robust.
Key Responsibilities
Review drawings, specifications, and enquiries for roofing and façade packages.
Prepare detailed take‑offs, cost estimates, and bills of quantities.
Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Manage tender deadlines and submissions, ensuring full compliance.
Provide value‑engineering and risk‑management input where appropriate.
Support post‑tender clarifications and smooth handover to project teams.
Maintain accurate cost data and supplier pricing schedules.
About You
Proven background estimating roofing, cladding, or façade projects.
Strong technical understanding of envelope systems (rainscreen, SFS, zinc, flat roofing, etc.).
Proficient in Excel and digital take‑off or estimating software.
Excellent commercial awareness and strong attention to detail.
Organised, methodical, and confident communicating with clients and suppliers.
Desirable
Experience with Design & Build contracts.
Knowledge of current façade compliance and Building Regulations.
HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
