Opis

Eaton is currently looking for an Indirect Tax Lead Analyst for Central and Eastern Europe.

This position is a hybrid role, based in Tczew, Poland.

What you’ll do:

This position reports to the Indirect Tax Manager for Europe (excluding France) and has the main responsibility to supervise all Eaton Indirect Tax (known as Value Added Tax or VAT) related activities and matters in accordance with the Indirect Tax legislation applicable in Central & Eastern European countries, covering 11 countries. You will also identify and control the risks pertaining to VAT accounting, compliance, and reporting to Tax Authorities.

List of Countries: Poland, Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, Estonia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Latvia, Serbia, and Slovakia.

  1. Coordinate and manage periodic VAT reporting for Eaton businesses in the region, with support from Eaton Operations and Pune VAT COE, to ensure timely preparation and submission of all VAT returns and VAT payments in line with Eaton VAT Controls Framework. Review documentation and transactions to ensure accurate monthly VAT filings.
  2. Keep up with current developments in indirect tax legislation and regulations, analyze, and summarize them in an understandable and professional manner. Stay informed about changes in Eaton businesses to take necessary measures as part of Eaton's VAT Controls Framework.
  3. Conduct VAT risk assessments in line with Eaton VAT Controls Framework and report on a monthly basis new findings and actions taken to mitigate risks pertaining to VAT accounting and reporting.
  4. Coordinate, manage, and build technical VAT arguments to ensure timely responses to queries from tax authorities, including VAT audits and VAT refund claims, and voluntary tax disclosures. Communicate with Tax Authorities in the region until VAT audits and VAT refunds are closed.
  5. Identify requirements, provide guidance, and review VAT aspects in various projects, by being part of a project team or by providing active support to Eaton Project Manager(s) and other business functions. Identify needs for Indirect Tax-driven projects.
  6. Maintain close and personal contact with Eaton Operations and build excellent relationships with them.
  7. Design and support in conducting tax training sessions with various stakeholders as required.
  8. Strategic Indirect Tax planning, creating Standard Operating Procedures for VAT accounting, compliance, and audits in cooperation with multiple departments.
  9. Provide tax advice/support on various service lines/business projects.
  10. Cooperate with Tax Technology, Direct Tax, and Transfer Pricing teams to align on strategic projects and operational changes for the region.
  11. Provide Indirect Tax advice related to ERP implementation/modifications and other tax technology-related topics such as those covered by the EU VIDA initiative (e-invoicing, Real-Time Reporting, etc.).
  12. Provide Indirect Tax advice on acquisitions and divestitures within the region. Review business processes, assess risks, and implement new processes for newly acquired businesses.
  13. Be the contact person for external customs brokers, finance, and sales teams for the collection of documents for VAT exemption and provide advice on such matters. Keep track of Eaton's open items and refundable amounts of not (timely) collected documents.
  14. Manage access requests and questions related to Eaton's e Archiving system. Support in training newly onboarded staff/plants on how to use the e Archiving system.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive Indirect Tax (Value Added Tax) experience in Poland and preferably other countries in scope, acquired in a multinational company similar to Eaton (preferred) or in a Big 4/other Firm (expertise in business process improvement, compliance processes related to indirect taxes, and practical experience with preparation and filing of VAT returns and VAT refund claims).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance/Tax; a professional accounting or tax qualification is considered a great asset.

Skills:

  • Excellent technical and practical knowledge about VAT in Poland and preferably other countries in scope, as well as the VIDA initiative of the EU.
  • Ability to communicate with the Tax Authorities directly and manage tax audits, demonstrating soft skills and legal expertise.
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of Tax Technology (Taxology). Experience using ERP systems (especially SAP) and technical business process improvements is desirable.
  • Understanding of VAT laws and accounting standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate complex topics effectively and concisely. Follow up closely with multiple departments to get tasks done in a timely and effective manner.
  • Very strong attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks, and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be proactive.
  • Ability to operate effectively with people at all levels of the business and connect well on a personal level.
  • Team Player: partners with hundreds of people located in the business, VAT Pune COE, Tax Technology, and other members of the Global Tax team.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Native in Polish and Fluent in professional English (speaking and writing).
  • Good leadership potential and takes strong ownership.
  • Ability to operate in a complex and cross-functional environment with autonomy.
