CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS As a member of the EMEAI Product Stewardship Team, the Trade Compliance Advisor will lead the EMEAI trade compliance function and act as a subject matter expert for the EMEAI trade compliance matters.

This person will facilitate all customs-related operations, assure compliance with all import/export laws, provide advice to the company on trade matters, write and implement EMEAI trade compliance policies and procedures, and support the company’s growth from a global import/export compliance perspective.

This is a new role within our EMEAI Product Stewardship Organization.

Duties included, but not limited to: DEVELOP TRADE COMPLIANCE FUNCTION IN EMEAI REGION Identify improvement opportunities in import and export processes at Sherwin William’s EMEAI sites.

Create and implement import and export procedures at EMEAI sites.

Support implementation of Trade Automation software at local sites.

Support customer service and logistics teams with export compliance, including documentation, best practices, and denied party screening.

Conduct training on same.

SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT Act as subject matter expert on EMEAI trade compliance issues and provide advice on trade compliance matters to the business.

Work with business and legal contacts to prepare responses to local and regional customs authorities.

Work closely with internal business groups across our organization that are affected by trade regulations to monitor existing business processes for regulatory gaps, evaluate effectiveness of existing internal controls, and make process improvements that increase business efficiencies and strengthen the compliance programs of the company.

Stay abreast of new regulatory requirements, regulations and best practices related to import/export trade activities.

BROKER CONSOLIDATION AND MANAGEMENT Prepare an RFQ to consolidate multiple brokers.

Manage the relationship and performance of customs brokers on behalf of Sherwin Williams and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with Sherwin William’s business practices and applicable laws and regulations.

Manage import compliance program, including all aspects of customs compliance including HTS assignment, free trade agreement qualifications, customs declarations, valuation, country of origin, post entry adjustments, duty refund claims, internal training, and recordkeeping.

Maintain internal trade activity metrics to enable visibility over import and export volumes, duty expenses, efficiencies of operations and related issues.

FREE TRADE AGGREEMENT MANAGEMENT Establish program for qualifying products under appropriate free trade agreement rules.

Drive internal and external processes to achieve maximum trade compliance related savings from free trade agreements and other duty savings programs.

INTEGRATION SUPPORT Support trade data accuracy and completeness for business system integrations.

Advise on best practices during business system implementation preparations.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS FORMAL EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or higher in International Business, International Relations, or other with relevant import/export, customs brokerage or trade compliance experience.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 8 years of Trade Compliance, Customs Brokerage, Import/Export, and/or Regulatory related experience Experience managing customs brokers and other trade compliance service providers Experience establishing & implementing new policies and procedures Experience in managing and analyzing large data sets Experience with qualification under free trade agreements Experience with automating processes Experience in the chemical industry or good understanding of chemistry as it relates to the paint and coatings industry.
